Sunset Locations
Please keep in mind TC Alfred has impacted some beach locations, and the below images were all taken before the storm.

Currumbin Point
Features: Beautiful rock formations on the beach. The sun sets over the creek/inlet water in the cooler months of the year.
Privacy: This area can be quite busy, even during the week (people are almost always able to be edited out of the background in final images).
Things to Consider: This spot has been heavily affected by TC Alfred (heavy erosion). Best to avoid extremely high tides as you won't be able to access the rock area or the creek inlet.
Dog-friendly?: Dog-prohibited area.
Rainbow Bay Beach
Features: Beautiful rock formations, and sunsets over the water/bay area in the cooler months.
Privacy: This location is best on weekdays as the weekends are too crowded.
Things to Consider: Best not done at high or extreme low tide.
Dog-friendly?: Dog-prohibited area.
The Spit
Features: This is the northernmost GC beach. It has a beautiful open beach. The sun sets over the pretty grassy/nature fields.
Privacy: People will be walking by on both weekdays and weekends with their dogs, this is an off-leash beach so dogs will come up to you.
Things to Consider: This spot has been heavily affected by TC Alfred. The sand dunes are very tall/steep and may be impacted by sand dredging. If you are not a dog person, best to avoid.
Dog-friendly?: Dog off-leash area.
Dreamtime Beach
Features: Beautiful rock formations.
Privacy: Best for weekdays only as weekends are very crowded.
Things to Consider: This spot has been heavily affected by TC Alfred. The sun sets behind the trees on the beach, the sun sets a little earlier here due to the trees, this beach is best for people who do not mind not having the golden sun glow in their images.
Dog-friendly?: Dog on-lead area.
Fingal Beach
Features: Pretty open beach with sun soaked headland in the background.
Privacy: Best for weekdays only as weekends are crowded.
Things to Consider: The sun sets behind the trees on the beach, the sun sets a little earlier here due to the trees, this beach is best for people who do not mind not having the golden sun glow in their images.
Dog-friendly?: Dog on-lead area.
Ormeau Bushland/Field
Features: Open hillside with scrubland, trees and open grassy areas.
Privacy: Best for weekends or weekdays - on the weekends there are a lot of other Photographers here.
Things to Consider: The sun sets approx. 10 mins earlier at this location due to the mountains. Currently, the grass is very long & can be hard to walk in at times. There have been council signs up for Fire Ant warnings in the recent past. High risk of snakes Spring to Autumn.
Dog-friendly?: Dog friendly.
O'Reilly's
Features: Beautiful sunset outlook with the mountains in the background.
Privacy: Best for weekends or weekdays. Weekends there will be other people here having picnics and watching the sunset.
Things to Consider: If you get self conscious that others are watching then this may not be the spot for you as the grassy area is in view of others who may be having picnics. This location is a very long drive from the GC and will incur a $50 travel fee.
Dog-friendly?: Dog friendly on leash.
