Dreamtime Beach

In my opinion, one of the most stunning spots to do a sunrise shoot and is well worth the drive down south.

Features: Beautiful rock formations, quiet location. 

Privacy: Usually very quiet in the mornings on both weekdays and weekends. 

Things to Consider: This area has been affected by TC Alfred. Best to avoid peak high tides as there will be little beach. The sun rises a lot more to the south of the rocks in the warmer months from Oct-April, so the sun direction will not look exactly like the example images here.

Dog-friendly?: Dog on-lead area. 

Miami Headland

Such epic rock formations!!

Features: You are able to get up very close to/on the rocks, especially at at low tide which can be great for a diverse gallery of images. There is a lovely grassy area too which gives diverse images.

Privacy: People will be walking by in the mornings on both weekdays and weekends. At times, there are other Photographer’s here, it is a popular photo spot (we just need to be mindful and respectful of others using the space). 

Things to Consider: Best to avoid peak high tides if you want to get photos in and around the rock areas.

Dog-friendly?: Dog on-lead area. 

Currumbin Point

Iconic Gold Coast spot.

Features: Stunning and iconic rocks in the background of your images. You can get onto the rocks at low tide. 

Privacy: Usually quiet in the mornings on both weekdays and weekends, there are always surfers and walkers going past for their morning exercise.  

Things to Consider: This spot is affected by TC Alfred - the rocks are now very sharp to walk on as there is sand erosion. High tide is not ideal anymore due to the sand erosion on the beach areas also - there is little room to walk, so when booking we need to book at low tide.

Dog-friendly?: Dog-prohibited area. 

The Spit

Features: This is the northernmost GC beach. It has a beautiful open beach for the sunrise, then you can move into the grassy fields afterwards for some photos too.

Privacy: People will be walking by in the mornings on both weekdays and weekends with their dogs, this is an off-leash beach so dogs will come up to you. 

Things to Consider: If you are not a dog person, best to avoid. The Spit has recently been impacted by TC Alfred, meaning the dunes are very high and the grassy field areas may be impacted.

Dog-friendly?: Dog off-leash area. 

Kirra Beach

Features: It has a beautiful open beach for the sunrise with a few rocks on the beach to play with, then you can move into the grassy areas for some photos too.

Privacy: People will be walking by in the mornings on both weekdays and weekends. 

Things to Consider: This spot is best for cooler months between Middle of March to October due to the way the sun rises behind the headland. There are buildings in the background of some photos, depending on the angle at which we are shooting.

Dog-friendly?: Dog prohibited area.

Currumbin Creek (morning or afternoon sessions)

Features: Beautiful grassy area with a white fence, large trees, flowers and of course the stunning creek.

Privacy: Best for weekdays. This is a publicly known spot with picnic tables around.

Things to Consider: This spot is best for weekdays only, especially in the warmer months, as this is a popular picnic/swimming area. Shoots at this location take place approx. 2 hours after sunrise or before sunset to maximise light.

Dog-friendly?: Dog prohibited area.
